Dive into essential hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques, while gaining invaluable insights into clay properties, basic forms, and surface finishing. With personalized guidance from our instructors, you'll sculpt your creations from start to finish. This class meets for three (3) hours once a week for six (6) weeks. Skills Covered: -Handbuilding basics (pinch, coil, slab techniques) -Wheel-throwing fundamentals -Clay preparation and wedging -Basic glazing techniques Clay and Firing Information As a proud distributor of Mammoth Clay, we are currently not allowing clay purchased outside of our studio into classes. Clay and tools will be available for purchase through our website ahead of class or at onsite at the studio. The first 25lb bag of clay is included in the price and you are welcome to bring your own tools! Firing fees are $1 per lb and include cone 6 electric glazes. To simplify the process the fees are built into each bag of clay purchased and vary pending the clay used. For example, our cheapest clay is $19 per 25lb bag, so plus $25 at $44 you get the clay, glaze and pieces you make from that bag fired. Outside commercial glazed can be used after instructor approval, otherwise all glazes are made in house. Please note that this is an adult class, 18 and up. We will accept teen students 14-17 but they must be taking the class WITH a parent or legal guardian. Want more studio time? Open Studio Hours will be available for current students. Ask your instructor for information!
