This is not a class for beginners, foundational ceramic skills are required. Check out our Intro to Throwing Class just for newbies, or any one of our all levels classes if you are just starting out your clay journey. If you have ever wanted to make BIG pots, this is the class for you. Multiple techniques will be covered for you to create large ceramic works of art. Size constraints are based on what fits in the kiln, so the max height of a single solid piece is 30". Skills Covered: -Large Wheel throwing techniques -Building large with Coils -Building Large with Pinch techniques -Finishing Large work -Refinement of form and design This class meets for three (3) hours once a week for six (6) weeks. However, depending on how big you choose to create you will very likely need to utilize open studio hours to complete your project. Open Studio Hours are available for registered students at $3 an hour. Please note: You may cancel with a full refund up to 72 hrs before the class begins. Two makeup sessions are included since life happens. Clay and Firing Information As a proud distributor of Mammoth Clay, we are currently not allowing clay purchased outside of our studio into classes. Clay and tools will be available for purchase through our website ahead of class or at onsite at the studio. You are welcome to bring your own tools and use studio sets. Firing fees are $1 per lb and include our in house glazes. To simplify the process the fees are built into each bag of clay purchased and vary pending the clay used. For example, our cheapest clay is $19 per 25lb bag, so plus $25 at $44 you get the clay, glaze and pieces you make from that bag fired. Outside commercial glaze can be used after instructor approval, otherwise all glazes are made in house. Please note that this is an adult class, 18 and up. We will accept teen students 14-17 but they must be taking the class WITH a parent or legal guardian. Want more studio time? Open Studio Hours are available for current students at $3 an hour.
