Service Description

All skill levels are welcome! From beginners to advanced students, we aim to keep things flexible and engaging for all skill levels. If you have never touched clay, we do have an Intro to Throwing Class just for newbies, but will still welcome you here. Students will be able to focus on projects they want to accomplish, with guidance from our instructors. Instructors will do basic instruction for the student new to clay at the beginning of the session and will do more advanced demonstrations upon request throughout the session. If your not ready to commit to 6 weeks, check out our Drop-In sessions! This class meets for three (3) hours once a week for six (6) weeks. Please note: You may cancel with a full refund up to 1 week before the class begins. Two makeup classes are included since life happens. We however, do not recommend missing the 1st class. Skills Covered: -Hand-building Basics (pinch, coil, slab techniques) -Wheel-throwing fundamentals -Clay preparation and wedging -Basic glazing techniques -Introduction to kiln firing -Intermediate/advanced throwing techniques -Intermediate/advanced hand building techniques -Refinement of form and design Clay and Firing Information As a proud distributor of Mammoth Clay, we are currently not allowing clay purchased outside of our studio into classes. Clay and tools will be available for purchase through our website ahead of class or at onsite at the studio. You are welcome to bring your own tools and use studio sets. Firing fees are $1 per lb and include our in-house cone 6, cone 10, and Raku glazes. You have access to a variety of firings including Cone 6 Oxidation, Cone 6 Reduction, Cone 6 Salt, Cone 10 Reduction, Cone 10 Salt, and a Multitude of Raku options. To simplify the process the fees are built into each bag of clay purchased and vary pending the clay used. For example, our cheapest clay is $19 per 25lb bag, so plus $25 at $44 you get the clay, glaze and pieces you make from that bag fired. Outside commercial glazed can be used after instructor approval, otherwise all glazes are made in house. Please note that this is an adult class, 18 and up. We will accept teen students 13-17 but they must be taking the class WITH a parent or legal guardian. If you are looking to not attend with your teen, we have a teens only class on Friday nights. Want more studio time? Open Studio Hours are available for current students at $3 an hour.

Cancellation Policy

Classes are 6 weeks long meeting for 3 hours per week. However, there are 8 weeks available to you when you book a class. The 7th week allows for makeup class time and open studio access to finish work done in class. The 8th week allows for additional open studio access to finish glazing pieces if needed. While you are a student you have access to our open studio hours at $3 an hour. Studio time for none students is regularly $20 an hour. Two makeup sessions are available because we know life happens. However, we highly suggest you don't miss the 1st class especially if you are new to clay and our studio. Makeup classes can be done during open studio hours, Drop-In Sessions, or if a seat is available in another class. Drop-In and In-Class makeup sessions must be signed up for pending availability and have guaranteed instructor access but have limited availability and space and are first come first serve. Open Studio hours do not need to be booked, but have varied and limited access to instructors, often just being solo work time to makeup class time. CANCELATION POLICY: You may cancel for a full refund if you cancel 1 week before your class starts. Otherwise we cannot issue a refund.
